Why in the world would I want to live in Carlsbad?
It's just a nice place to live. The schools are good if you have kids. We picked our houses with that in mind. National parks and state parks are all around you. The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce will bend over backwards to make sure you get whatever you need as far as entertainment and the daily necessities of living goes. They have tons of brochures, free phone books and city maps. Don't take my word for it: Click on the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce.
You get good money for commuting. Even with today's higher gas prices, you will still make a good amount that will add considerably to your per diem.
You won't run into any trainees here. I've been staying in one of my houses for three weeks and I haven't seen hide nor hair of one yet.
The people are just as nice as they can be. Everyone waves, they slow down to let you back out of your driveway. They're just genuinely nice people.
Crime? What's that?
I haven't seen any mojaditos here either. There may one or two lurking around, but they must keep to themselves. Even the landscapers are all legal.
There is a nice medical facility right across the highway from our houses.
El Paso and the nearest Costco is a three hour drive, however you happen to look at it. There is also a Sam's Club in Roswell. Both Costco and Sam's have gas pumps.
